So, I have been pretty quiet about my quest to loose weight (while getting Ezzy to gain weight). This primarily because since announcing my intention to loose 30 pounds I have lost and regained the same five pounds over and over. I would drop some weight when Ez was doing well and I could get to the gym regularly…and then she would be under the weather again and I would hit the cookies and yoga pants again.

But last week I made a change. I cut gluten out of my diet. I was gluten-free before my pregnancy, primarily because it seemed to help me with joint discomfort that I’d had since my teens. I was never diagnosed with anything, but seemed to feel better that way. So I kept approximately gluten-free, until pregnancy made me crave entire loaves of bread.

I haven’t been feeling at my best lately, so I made a decision to cut out gluten and refined sugar. I have also reduced the amount of processed food, diary, and corn in my diet. And since I have been unable to comfortably eat most red meat since my gall bladder lost it’s grip on reality four years ago, I am essentially eating chicken, some pork, veggies, fruits, nuts, some grains…all in all, not bad.

I am feeling pretty amazing, actually, after only a week. And if I can increase my water intake a bit more I suspect I will be feeling even better.

And I had the happy surprise to see some marked weight loss in a week. So, for my current tally I am at: -7.5 pounds!

Which, I think, isn’t bad considering everything. I have a little under five months until my Repeat 30th Birthday…I can reach my goal if I lose five pound a month until then. Although, I do feel that it isn’t about the weight, per se. The goal helps, but it is a fluid goal. If I feel good at -20 pounds, so be it! I want to feel healthy in my body, not fit into a particular size jeans.
